The cat-eye is arguably the timeless holiday makeup look. A small wing feels very Eartha Kitt; a more substantial one channels Sophia Loren. Yet no matter how much a feline flick may recall the past, it somehow still always feels right… right now.

Case in point: makeup artist Kate Synnott's interpretation. "This is a classic look that can be done in many different ways," she says. Here, she was inspired to add a French-girl red lip.
